Should Childhood Trauma Be Treated as a Mental Health Crisis?

Simple answer: YES. Childhood trauma is pervasive. And I see it everyday working in substance abuse treatment. As Gabor Mate once said (I may be slightly paraphrasing…), “Not every traumatized person becomes an addict, but every addict was a traumatize person”.

Excited to see where awareness and the new bill- SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act leads the community, the field of mental health, and trauma treatment in general.
